◊ This turquoise formed in ancient seafloor shale at what is now known as the Dyer Blue mine. The Dyer Blue mine is a small turquoise mine located near the town of Dyer, in Esmeralda County, Nevada. Once known as the Lovely mine in the 1970's due to its lovely blue color, this mine was worked sporadically into the early 1980's. After almost three decades of lying idle, the Dyer Blue mine is once again producing limited quantities of dark blue to greenish blue turquoise with stunning reddish brown spiderweb and patterned matrix, as well as pure blue and green–blue Persian–type gem turquoise. This stone was mined and cabbed by a husband and wife team...the stone literally went from the mine, to their hands, to mine, and now to yours!

◊ A brilliant cut refers to a diamond or other gemstone, cut in a particular form with abundant facets so as to have exceptional brilliance. The shape resembles that of a cone and provides maximized light return through the top of the diamond.

◊ The word diamond comes from the ancient Greek adámas, meaning unbreakable. Most natural diamonds are formed at high temperatures and pressure in the Earth's mantle. Carbon-containing minerals provide the carbon source, and the growth occurs over periods from 1 billion to over 3 billion years. Diamonds are brought close to the Earth's surface through deep volcanic eruptions by magma, which cools into igneous rocks.
