Utah Variscite + Moissanite Ring | Sterling Silver + 14k Recycled Gold | One of a Kind

Utah Variscite + Moissanite Ring | Sterling Silver + 14k Recycled Gold | One of a Kind

◊ A unique piece of variscite from Utah, set in sterling silver with a moissanite trio accent. The moissanite is bezel set 14k recycled solid gold. The variscite is hand cut by a lapidary artist in Arizona.

◊ Variscite measures 17 x 10 mm. The moissanite measures 2 mm.

◊ Because this ring is one of a kind it will be ready to ship in a size 7. Ring cannot be sized.

◊ Variscite is a mineral closely related to turquoise in mineralogical terms, a hydrous aluminum phosphate, with its distinct difference being that it doesn't contain copper. While copper gives turquoise its characteristically blue color, variscite receives its green colors from chromium and vanadium, while other metals such as iron and manganese can contribute to its other colors.

◊ Moissanite was first discovered by French chemist Henri Moissan in a meteor crater in Arizona. Due to its scarcity, it is now a lab created gem by Charles & Colvard.  Dr. Moissan's research identified them as a brand new mineral composition—silicon carbide, whereas diamonds are created from carbon.  In nature, silicon carbide is created over millennia by a combination of extreme heat and pressure. At Charles & Colvard researchers re-create those conditions in a controlled, profoundly accelerated process which produces durable, super-hard crystals with a minimum of ecological impact…and absolutely no mining. In their research laboratory located in Central North Carolina, scientists perfected and patented the innovative process that creates silicon carbide crystals.

◊ Because of their unique composition, each locality where turquoise and variscite are found imparts its own character into the stone. You will receive this exact ring.
