Variscite, Ruby + Black Diamond Cluster Ring | 14k Recycled Gold | One of a Kind

Variscite, Ruby + Black Diamond Cluster Ring | 14k Recycled Gold | One of a Kind

◊ This one of a kind cluster ring features a detailed variscite stone encompassed by a baguette shaped ruby and black diamond trio.

◊ This variscite, mined from the Blue Boy Mine in Nevada, measures 6 mm. The ruby measures 5 x 3 mm and the black diamonds measure 2.25 mm. The ring is hand fabricated in solid 14k recycled gold, all stones are bezel set on a 1.5 x 1 mm flat band in a matte finish.

◊  Variscite is a mineral closely related to turquoise in mineralogical terms, a hydrous aluminum phosphate, with its distinct difference being that it doesn't contain copper. While copper gives turquoise its characteristically blue color, variscite receives its green colors from chromium and vanadium, while other metals such as iron and manganese can contribute to its other colors.

◊ Ruby is a gemstone variety of the mineral corundum as well as sapphire and they're distinguished by their color and color saturation. They are also a 9 on the Mohs scale, which makes them incredibly durable.

◊ Black diamonds are a beautiful contradiction to white diamonds. Unlike white diamonds, they don't reflect light, but rather absorb it. Black diamonds have a different crystal structure than any other type of diamond. They are still a 10 on the Moh's scale, but have a polycrystalline structure, which means they are made up of millions of crystals, rather than just one.
