Remote Care for Engagement Rings

The love of your life proposed to you and you have a beautiful engagement ring from Mineralogy but you don’t live in Chicago to stop by for complimentary cleanings…what do you do?!

We love to keep our rings sparkly and we’re sure you do too. By cleaning your ring often, you are removing the materials that build up inside of the setting and cause your stones to look cloudy. Regular cleanings will also allow your jeweler to check the settings and make sure everything is looking good.

FIND A TRUSTED LOCAL JEWELER

We suggest finding a trusted local jeweler in your area for regular cleanings. At the minimum, you should have your ring serviced once a year, but twice a year is best. If your ring needs any service beyond cleaning, you can connect with us and we will provide the next steps forward. We can confirm the warranty of your piece and go over options as well as potential costs for service or repair.

Over the lifetime of your ring it may need to be re-sized. We suggest that you stop by a local jeweler to have your finger sized and then connect with us for resizing. While you can have it sized by a local jeweler, this would void your warranty. There is also the possibility of another jeweler damaging your ring while sizing it. We are not responsible for any damage to our work by another jeweler.

We highly recommend sending your ring back to us for all resizing or repair work. We know our rings the best and will communicate with you on all aspects of shipping, repair, and arranging to have your ring sent back. We understand that it can feel unsettling to ship your piece back and forth, but it is often a better option than the possibility of another jeweler damaging your piece beyond repair.

HOW DO I SHIP TO MINERALOGY?

The best way to connect with us is via our contact page. Here you can describe your request and our concierge team will reply back to you to gather further information such as detailed photos of potential repairs. Our team will also provide you with instructions on how to safely pack and ship your order to send to us for repair or sizing. Once we receive your piece and review it, we will email you with a summary and quote for your approval. If your piece is insured, you can file a claim with your insurance. Upon completion of repair, we will connect with you to confirm your ship date to ensure you are home to sign for your piece.

DO YOU HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

If you are still wondering about anything that we haven’t covered, please don’t hesitate to contact our team or give the shop a call at 773-780-0811. We would be happy to discuss in detail with you!

Plan Your Visit to Try on Engagement Rings

Do you have an engagement on the horizon? We’d love to help you plan your Mineralogy visit to select your engagement ring or begin planning a custom project. Read on for our recommendations!

When should we start to look for engagement rings?

When it comes to timelines it varies! Our custom engagement rings take about 3 months to complete from the design consultation date to final production. Our one-of-a-kind pieces in the case are available in a size 6.5, and we offer a one time complimentary sizing on these pieces. The turnaround time for sizing is up to 4 weeks.

Should I bring my partner with me or come alone?

Everyone plans their proposals differently! If you are selecting a ring or considering a custom design for your partner, we recommend coming in together so we can we can size their finger, and you can develop an understanding of their design preferences, favorite colors, shapes and size of stones.

How do I know if designing a custom engagement ring is right for me?

There are many factors that couples take into mind as they decide between our existing rings and a custom design. Timeline to completion and availability of center stones in your preferred color, shape, and budget are all things to keep in mind as you consider your options.

Our one-of-a-kind rings often have unique center stones that are not always available to source for custom work, so if you love one of our existing styles, we recommend scooping it up!

I have heirloom diamonds that I would to use in my engagement ring. Can I do that?

We are able to incorporate heirloom diamonds into a design through our custom process. If you have heirloom diamonds that you would like to use in your design, we recommend bringing them with you when you visit to try on engagement rings. This will give our team the opportunity to get an idea of their size and condition, and we can make a determination on whether or not they could be used in a custom design. We are unable to repurpose heirloom metal in a custom design.

If you are planning a proposal, we recommend starting the process at least four or five months out from your proposal date.

This timeline accounts for all the design and production steps, any back and forth involved in the design and approval, while still leaving you plenty of time to have your ring in hand before the big day! To learn more about this process read through our custom guide here.

What happens during a typical engagement viewing at Mineralogy?

We are by appointment only for all Saturday ring try-ons. Walk-ins welcome for all other services and on weekdays! If you are planning to visit on a Saturday you can book your appointment here!

During your visit, our concierge team will help you try on a selection of styles, size your finger, and answer any questions you may have. This is a great time to learn more about the stones that interest you as well as how the size of different center stones look on your hand.

After your visit, we will share a summary via email of your favorite designs. If you are considering creating a custom ring then we will also include our custom guide which covers all of the details of our custom design process and a brief questionnaire for you to fill out and share with us if you decide you would like to proceed!

What are my options for available rings?

We have a selection of over 100 engagement rings available for try on and purchase. Prior to your visit, you can browse though our current selection here. If you fall in love with one of our existing rings, we can assist you in your purchase and sizing to coordinate with your proposal.

More information to keep in mind:

Not ready to make a decision during your visit? We get it! Selecting an engagement ring is a big and exciting decision. We take notes during your visit and send a follow up email afterwards with links to your favorite styles and ring size, so you can place your order whenever you’re ready.

We highly recommend taking pictures of your favorite styles on your hand so you have something to look back on as you make your choice.

We are looking forward to helping you select your engagement ring or plan your custom engagement design!
